Mother, as well as his two elder brothers, are also no longer alive. As a child, Mariya helped her mother with the housework, loved to draw.

After school, Mariya graduated from a school in Karachayevsk, where she received the specialty of a plasterer-painter. For many years she worked as a nanny in a kindergarten. Now retired, she is engaged in a garden.

In 1981, Mariya married Vasiliy. He was a hardworking and caring spouse, but in 2019 he passed away. The couple raised three children—two daughters and a son.
