Biography
Vladimir Kompaniets was born in June 1966 in Seversk, Tomsk Region. There were three children in the family. His father is no longer alive — he died of COVID in 2020.
Vladimir completed his mandatory military service in the airborne troops. After the army, he studied to be an engineer, but did not pursue a career in his field. He spent most of his life working as a bus driver; for the past 15 years, he has been a plumber. He has many regular clients.
Vladimir is cheerful and upbeat — he likes to joke and laugh. In his youth, he was interested in ballroom dancing and photography; now, in his free time, he assembles mosaics — large, complex pictures. He plays volleyball every week.
Vladimir's wife, Svetlana, taught at elementary school, worked as a craft teacher, laboratory assistant, and shop assistant. She enjoyed organizing children's recreation, so she spent summers at pioneer camps. That is where she met Vladimir, who was into photography at the time. The couple married in 1990. A year later, their daughter, Anastasiya, was born, and three years later, their son, Dmitriy. The children grew up and moved away; they now have their own families.
In 1991, Vladimir's older sister died; two years later, his twin brother drowned together with his four-year-old son. These tragic events were a tremendous shock for Vladimir — he began to abuse alcohol, and the family fell apart. Vladimir later recalls that, thanks to applying Bible advice, he and his wife restored their warm relationship. In their free time, Vladimir and his wife enjoy organizing friendly gatherings and making shashlik outdoors.
In June 2026, Vladimir Kompaniets was arrested and placed in a pretrial detention center. The couple had never been apart for long and are deeply affected by the forced separation. Svetlana's health weakened after she had COVID in 2020 — at that time, she spent 2 weeks in a coma. She now has to manage the household herself, pay the bills, and deal with paperwork for the criminal case. After the search of her home, Svetlana does not feel comfortable in her own house. Her daughter travels from another city to help her. Vladimir's elderly mother, who was 87 at the time her son was arrested, fears she may never see him again.
