The right to ACS continues to be taken away from believers with reference to the decision of the Supreme Court of Russia

Chuvashia

Another case of violation of the right to alternative civilian service (ACS) occurred in Chuvashia. On May 12, 2017, in the city of Sumerlya, the draft commission denied 18-year-old Abel Lukin, whose convictions contradict military service, the constitutional right to ACS. One of the members of the draft board, referring to the decision of the Supreme Court against the organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses, told the young man: "You can keep your beliefs to yourself, and your faith."

Abel was issued a summons to appear on May 22, 2017 to be sent for military service. He intends to appeal the decision of the draft board.
